Marvin the rover will utilize multiple scientific instrumentation systems to accomplish the planned objectives, including the Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer (APXS), Rock Abrasion Tool (RAT), and Panoramic Camera (PanCam). Marvin is also equipped with a Hazard Avoidance Camera (HazCam), Radioisotope Heater Units (RHUs), solar panels, batteries, microprocessors, a memory card, calibration targets, and an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) antenna.
